The Experience

Create your own exquisite embroidered designs from the comfort of your home with École Saint Clare.

Deluxe Embroidery Kit

The first kit is inspired by the traditional English rose. This elegant piece contains some of the fundamental goldwork techniques that those who have worked in embroidery will be aware of. The final piece will be approximately 6.5cm x 5cm. Creating depth by adding intricate gold pearl purl, then moving to add shade which will bring highlights to the design which will contrast with the background. This design has an option for a white or a black satin duchess fabric.

The kit includes:

  • Detailed instructions
  • Gilt pearl purl
  • Gilt bright check gurl
  • Anis green smooth purl
  • Beeswax
  • Different sized needles
  • White single duchess satin fabric (with the artwork already drawn on)
  • Yellow Gutermann bobbin thread

The second kit's design is a buttonhole rose. This charming design reveals a flower with pink petals and carefully applied Bicone crystals to create the illusion of shimmering droplets which glisten in the light. The final piece will be approximately 9cm x 6cm.

Tambour Beading Beginners Class - Live Zoom Class

The art of Tambour Beading has been regarded as one of the most ornate and delicate of the arts. Throughout these classes, you will be shown the basics and beginning stages of this beautiful beading technique.

The first session of this live zoom class takes place on the 6th of July and the second session takes place on the 3rd August. Both classes will be held between 18:00 and 21:00 GMT (6hrs in total).

This kit includes:

  • Tambour hook
  • Practise fabric
  • Practise beads
  • White and Black Polyester Gutermann Thread 100m

You will need the additional equipment:

  • A seated hoop 8 or 10 inch (with webbing around the top ring)
  • An embroidery scissors
  • Pins
  • Pencil and rubber
  • Notepad

Tambour Beading Level 1 Class - Pre-Recorded Video Class

Receive pre-recorded step-by-step videos, materials and equipment, and PDF resources. Interactive social media groups discuss questions and allow you to share your experience and inspirations. The course is accessible for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Goldwork Elizabethan Border Class - Live Zoom Class

In this specialist workshop, you will study techniques used by embroiderers to create intricate and decadent designs which are often connected as being a symbol of wealth. Throughout the classes, your tutor will show you how to enhance your knowledge of embroidery and improve your Goldwork techniques including passing, stitching pearl purl, essing and creating the intricate flower.

The first session of this live zoom class takes place on the 8th of June and the second session takes place on the 20th of July. Both classes will be held between 18:00 and 21:00 GMT (6hrs in total)

Allow us to Introduce you to... École Saint Clare

École Saint Clare is based in Cheshire, England. Founded by French embroidery artist and expert tutor Stephanie Bonneau, who throughout her career has worked with several distinguished embroidery houses in Paris such as Atelier Lesage, Atelier Cecil Henry & Atelier Hurel. In her work with hand embroidery and tambour beading she has created various collections with Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Christian Dior, Valentino and Armani. 

After moving to London, Stephanie worked at the prominent embroidery atelier Hand & Lock. She has worked on various prestigious projects such as The Queen's Diamond Jubilee & The 2012 London Olympic Games, alongside this also continuing her work with designers like Swarovski, Stella McCartney and Burberry.

Through all these incredible projects, Stephanie wanted to transfer her knowledge and expertise into a school, enabling beginners and lovers of embroidery to hone their skills: and so became École Saint Clare Embroidery School.
