Leather Accessories Masterclass by Diamond Awl

Greater Manchester
Two day traditional leather making course, creating unique and practical pieces. £500 £550 (Save £50)

The Experience

Over the two days you will learn traditional leatherwork skills and use high-quality, vegetable-tanned leather to make a collection of three small leather accessories: Notebook Holder, Card Holder & Everyday Pouch. You will have a choice of leather colours and each item can be personalised with your initials.

You will begin the day by discussing and learning about leather and the core tools that will be used during the course. You will then start making your items from start to finish, learning the core basics of traditional leatherwork including marking and cutting out leather, preparing the leather for hand stitching, saddle stitching by hand, bevelling, burnishing, finishing and embossing.

At the end of the two days you will have made your very own collection of small leather accessories.

Lunch, refreshments and materials are all included. This experience is on-site at Woodend Mill in Ashton-under-Lyne, near Manchester.

Allow us to introduce you to... Diamond Awl

All tuition will be with Jason Stocks-Young, founder of Diamond Awl Leather Workshop. Jason started his leather journey 10 years ago, learning traditional skills from a saddler. Courses take place in his workshop which is in an old cotton mill on the edge of the Pennines near Saddleworth and is a relaxed and inspiring environment to learn.

Jason featured in the recent BBC2 TV series Saved & Remade, and the BBC1 series Made in Great Britain which explored and celebrated the UK's manufacturing heritage. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge for leatherwork and has taught over 500 students through his courses.
