Lascelles Fine Arts offers this painting and drawing master course in six 2.5 hour sessions as a more comprehensive experience presented by a master artist that will use his knowledge and years of experience to simplify your introduction into the world of painting and drawing.
Either by email, phone, or via zoom; you and your tutor will discuss your previous history with art in general, what type of art you prefer, and what you would like to achieve throughout the course. The primary aim of the consultation is to tailor your course to your specific level of ability and what you would like to learn based on your own desires and needs.
Depending on your own preferences the painting portion of the course will either be offered for acrylic paint or oil paint; in reference to your choice of favourite styles and choice of subject matter, the course will focus on helping you to create your own reproduction of a famous work of art, or help you to create your own original composition in a recognisable style. Beyond the tailored focus of what you will paint, you will learn the foundational basics of how to use either oil or acrylic paint. By the end of this course you will have gained enough information and received enough guided instruction to be able to continue experimenting with painting on your own. The drawing portion of the course will likewise be tailored to your tastes and in consideration of the type of painting you would like to pursue. Principles of drawing that may be part of your course may include: perspective, human proportion, composition, how to draw from life, how to draw from photos, how to start a drawing, how to complete a drawing, the differences between sketches and a study, the basics of life drawing, portraiture, still life, landscape, methods to transfer a drawing to canvas, and the various materials that may be used to create a drawing.
From the consultation your tutor will sketch out a plan for your course, discuss what materials you will need and where to obtain them, and arrange the scheduling of your class sessions with you.
